Senior Pastor Pleasant Mound-Urban Park UMC

Greetings,

I am Annelda Crawford. I became a certified candidate for ministry August 23, 2003. I served as Assistant Pastor at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (UMC), Mesquite, TX from January 10, 2005 to December 31, 2007.  I was certified a Local Pastor April 2007; graduated Perkins School of Theology, SMU, Master of Divinity Degree May 17, 2008; appointed as senior pastor Pleasant Mound-Urban Park UMC, May 24, 2008; commissioned by Bishop Alfred L. Norris, Sr. into residency in the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church June 9, 2008.
I am a native Dallasite educated in the local public schools. I completed undergraduate work at Dallas Baptist University with a Batchelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology. I worked as a social worker for Dallas County Welfare now Dallas County Health and Human Services, Wichita Falls State Hospital and Hope Cottage Children’s Bureau. I retired from Delta Air Lines in 2001 after 23 years in Sales and Marketing Development.
I came to the United Methodist Church in 1992 as a nursery volunteer in Vacation Bible School (VBS) at St. Luke “Community” UMC. Within that congregation I served in leader as VBS Coordinator (3 years) and Education Cluster Coordinator (3 years). As educational coordinator I supervised 42 Disciple Bible Study classes; the Scholarship program; coordinated the annual College Tour, supervised the tutoring ministry, as well as the Computer and Technology Programs. I also served as coordinator for the 69th through 71st church anniversary celebrations. In addition to these leadership positions, I served in the Sanctuary choir, Lay Leadership Committee, offering counter and Stewardship Committee.
I accepted the call to ministry in 1997 under the watchful eyes of Rev. Zan W. Holmes, Jr. and Rev. John W. Tatum, Sr. I consider both mentors in ministry. My first female mentor in ministry was scholar and lecturer, Rev. Dr. Renita J. Weems formerly of Vanderbilt University and Spelman College. My parents are Rochell and Marvelene Hopkins both deceased. I am the sixth generation of my family out of slavery. Most important of all, I am a child of God who considers it a privilege to be called of God to serve at Pleasant Mound-Urban Park United Methodist Church. To God be the glory for this wonderful opportunity.
